Share with us a little about yourself and what you do. My name is Ilima Ho-Lastimosa. I am from Waimānalo Homestead. I believe in my community and know the excellence that is born and bred here. I come from that excellence. I share this excellence with other people and communities wherever possible. I share knowledge on food, nutrition, agriculture, health and wellness, aquaponics, agroforestry and Waimānalo .

Why is the work that you do important to you? The community? The work that I do is important because it helps those who choose to participate and engage to be better prepared for life and its many challenges. Equipping our participants with all the needs to learn and excel in the skillsets that we share in community is what is important to me. I believe that if research or programming is being done in community, the researchers need to provide everything including meals, supplies, equipment and resources because if these researchers want to do research in our communities they need to know that they need us, not the other way around! That is IMPORTANT TO ME! Otherwise, I not playing!

Share with us the qualities of leadership you admire and how you express those in your life. Leadership is doing all the work on the back end, the planning, preparation, clean-up, etc. No need be in the front, on the stage! Leaders support those who need to learn to lead. Give the learners everything they need to succeed. All the while knowing that they are capable, ready, prepared, and well equipped with everything that is necessary to do amazing work. That to me iS leadership!

Who has inspired you to do the work that you are doing? My ohana, community, Ala Koa Street, Waimānalo !

What is one word that describes something you are excited about for the lāhui? EA!

What is one word that describes a pressing issue that is facing our lāhui? OLA
