Lanakila Mangauil, born and raised in Honoka'a/ Hāmākua Hawai'i. I am a Kumu Hula, Kumu 'ike Hawai'i. E hands-on community advocate and Mālama 'Āina. A Kia'i Mauna, and a representative of Hawai'i across the world. A supporter of Justice for kānaka maoli, and advocate for creating a Pono future for all of Hawai'i and our world community.


Why is the work that you do important to you? The community?

I feel what I offer helps to challenge and expand the communities potentials and vision for pono change and growth. I am part of my community and there for I will be a recipient of the same pono or hewa of our actions. So inspiration and education to dream and work towards resilience is pono.

Lokahi, always remembering that we are connected and dedicatedto maintaining unity. In agreement or not, a leader works towards the benefit for all.
Ha'aheo, pride in Hawaiian mana'o "Ha'a- ha'aha'a, humility, humble, compassionate, consideration. Heo - pride, posture, poise, brave. One must hold themselves strong and exemplary with strength and to inspire, but with grace and humility. Ha'aha'a first, then Heo. That is a balanced leader.

Who has inspired you to do the work that you are doing?

It is impossible to name a single person and would be disrespectful to speak only 1 name out of the many.

Ho'ala
